Hope Community Church Structure
How is the church led?
Jesus Christ is the head of Hope Community Church. Therefore, we seek to reflect His priorities in all we do. No decision is ever to be made that would knowingly contradict any of Jesus’ teaching. It is through the guidance of the Bible and the indwelling Holy Spirit that we endeavor to discern Christ’s vision and strategies for the church.
Multifaceted Leadership
On the human level, two teams, along with the Sr. Pastor, direct the ministries of HCC. These two teams are the Elders and the Leadership Council.
The Elders are members of the church who are chosen by the congregation in order to provide general watch care and oversight. They evaluate the teaching ministry of the church and work with the Sr. Pastor (who is also an Elder) to review major ministry directions and decisions. They pray for and encourage the Sr. Pastor and Leadership Council. They use their wisdom, discernment and shepherding gifts to ensure the church remains on a true course biblically while leading the church to adapt whenever necessary to fulfill our mission in an ever-changing culture. According to God’s Word, Elders must meet the qualifications described in II Timothy 2 & Titus 1. Scripture indicates that the ultimate decision-making authority in the local church rests with the Elders. At HCC, the Elders delegate the coordination and execution of the day-to-day ministries to the Sr. Pastor, who oversees the Leadership Council.
The Leadership Council, led by the Sr. Pastor, is made up of key leaders within the church. They are approved and empowered by the Elders to work with the Sr. Pastor to oversee and carry out the day-to-day affairs of the church. The Leadership Council meets regularly to pursue their main job of building and coordinating teams of volunteers so that the mission and strategies of the church are pursued. As of 9/1/08, the members of the Leadership Council include the following:
- Director for Prayer Ministries
- Senior Pastor
- Student Ministries Pastor
- Worship Pastor
- Business Administrator
- Children’s Ministry Director
- Office Coordinator
- Pastor for Adult Ministries
Communication & Accountability among the two leadership teams
- Both teams meet together quarterly
- Both teams share their minutes with the other group
- Elders may attend Leadership Council meetings and Leadership Council members may also attend Elder meetings, whenever appropriate
